ADVENTURES IN SPACE CAMP

Attention future space explorers:  We are pleased to offer the opportunity to experience a five day space odyssey right in your own community.  On this journey you will learn about flying, both in and out of Earth’s atmosphere.  Find out what it is like to live and work in space.  You will also design your own space station, moon base or Mars base.  See how rockets work from ground up by building and launching your own model rocket.



There will also be video presentations and awards during the five day program.  During the week there will be different activities in place each day for the students.  A typical schedule for the week is:







SPACE CAMP
  • Day 1: Rocket Building – Learn and understand how rockets work and fly. Students will build their own rocket that will fly as high as 1000 feet. Launching on Day 5.
  • Day 2: Our Universe – Exploring our Solar System and Science Fun. Using toys to explore gravity and friction. See the effects on Earth and aboard the Space Shuttle.
  • Day 3: Living and Working in Space – Find out what it’s like to be an astronaut. Detailed model of a moon suit, space food and hands-on activities will be presented. Astronaut Portraits will be taken in a shuttle flight suit.
  • Day 4: Space Station – Learn the history of and development of a Space Station. Then design your own space station.
  • Day 5: Principles of Flight and Rocket Launch – Students will explore and understand the principles of flight using gliders, balloons, and water rockets. Finally, family and friends are invited to witness the launching of the rockets created on Day 1. Award ceremony will commence after the launchings.
  • Students should bring a snack and a drink as there is a short break during the day.
