PHOTOGRAPHY WEEKEND WORKSHOPS (Ages 18+)
Want to practice your creative photography skills? Take some interesting pictures? Extend your understanding of Manual Settings and use of Flash? Shoot Outdoors? Join us for four Saturdays of Fun and Photos in the Field, instead of a classroom. We’ll meet at a convenient kickoff location in Winchester (Starbucks) for the first meeting to discuss an overview, and vote on backup plans in case of bad weather.

1. Kickoff meeting and review of principles (just to get everyone on same page) you’ll also learn about window light and practice some basics (this is the class where you will learn how to properly expose for shooting indoors with an outdoor background). (1pm to 3pm)

2. How to photograph people outdoors – Back of Winchester Library. You’ll learn about posing and placement, using backgrounds, when/how to use flash in daytime, shooting in natural light, using a reflector, and applied depth of field. (tentatively 2:30pm-5:30pm)

3. SatARTday: Joy St. Open Studios – This is a great location to photograph creative artists (and their works) in their element -- from painters, to guitar makers, jewelers, leather crafters, and glass blowing (we will visit as many as time allows). (12:30pm to 4:30pm)

4. Boston Skyline shoot – by the Charles on Memorial Drive. This is a Sunset shoot and will go into the early evening. Bring a tripod. We’ll learn about longer exposures and effect on reflections, the "Cracked Ice" effect (Moonlight permitting) and tips on shooting the Moon (we’ll still cover this even if Moon does not cooperate), Magic Hour and Blue Hour review, and one advanced off-camera flash example. (6pm-9pm).

Dates: Saturday, April 30th - May 21st
Fee: $120.00
Location: See above, location will vary each week. First meeting will take place at Winchester Starbucks.
